Raise Money-Smart Kids: Start the money conversation early with Molly Earns Her Pie!
How many children's books do you have on your shelves that teach your kids about money? When my kids were in preschool and kindergarten I can honestly say I didn't have any. My good friend is a CPA and she recently wrote a children's book that introduces young kids to money and I would have loved this for my kids when they were younger! It's called Molly Earns Her Pie and it's SO cute. It stars an adorable monkey named Molly who wants to bake a banana pie but she doesn't have any money to buy the ingredients. Molly learns she must earn her money and she gets a job at the zoo to do just that. Must I point out how adorable it is that a monkey is working at the zoo? I love that it's written in such a fun, uncomplicated way; perfect for a 4-6 year old. It's a wonderful way for parents to address the question of where money comes from. And I think it makes the perfect gift for a new parent...in fact I've already gifted a copy to a sweet mom-to-be! I love the idea of starting the money conversation early. What do you think?
